About Me
Hi, I’m Mallaidh (pronounced "Molly")
I was born and raised on a small beef farm in Wisconsin. There are many great memories from childhood on the farm, from swinging on the ropes in the haymow to jumping on the apple tree tire swing so I could feed the dropped apples to the pigs. When I was old enough to help with bigger tasks, I was catching newborn calves for tagging and baling hay.
In high school, I decided farming would always be a part of my life. I went to college to learn the business skills to successfully run a farming business. I studied entrepreneurship and marketing and was named Outstanding Marketing Major at graduation.
After university, I worked as a Marketing Specialist at a startup for 3 years. Because we were a small team, I led many different initiatives and touched all marketing activities.
But my heart was always with farming.
I resigned from my first big-girl corporate job to work at small, organic farms across the Northeast. During my travels, I met many wonderful farmers passionate about providing nutritious foods to their local communities and responsibly stewarding the land. I learned more about the struggles they faced in running and marketing their businesses.
Now I am in the starting years of my own farm!
Why work with me?
As a farmer, you run every aspect of a business as well as being a caretaker of your animals and your land. You’re also a teacher, educating your customers about the foods you produce, the environmental impact of conventional farming, and the benefits of local, sustainable farming. You are probably active in local politics as they affect your business and the natural resources you rely on. Plus, you have a family, a social life, and other hobbies.
Bottom line: You’re balancing a lot. You need people who understand farming and your business. You don’t have time to explain the intricacies of sustainable farming to a big, distant marketing agency. You need someone who knows farming and marketing.
I’m a marketer who knows farming. Or perhaps a farmer who knows marketing. Either way, I’m on your team! I value responsible stewardship. I know the importance of local food and sustainable practices. I’ve practiced business and marketing.
Your farm is unique. It’s more than just a business. Farms need to be profitable but the mission is about more than just the bottom line.
Let’s create a marketing plan that works for you and your farm’s purpose.
